So sorry fo being late, slow fo a while dikarenakan tugas negara yg bertubi tubi.. jadi ketikan ga selese dah..

Today kita obrol soal flavor yg susah susah gampang dan once we loved soooo much as part of our journey of life.. *ckckckc lebhaayy.. ^_^ qiqiqiqi…

yak kembali lagi dalam acara yg seadanya ini, dan sesi FLAVOR TALK & REVIEW kali ini adalah :

TOBACCO! ^_^

Apa sih Tobacco? Yaelah… pasti dah pada paham dah pada… hehe..

Oiya, di sesi ini buat gampangnya aja sih.. ini cuman buat gampang klasifikasi golongan tobacco yg gw review, my way aja and it could make you easier to understand aja buat pas nanti baca review gw dibawah ini.. jadi versi gw ini ada 3 jenis tobacco di dunia DIY Vaping.

Which are :

1. Young Tobacco: yg menurut gw ini lebih ke aroma, rasa yg simple and kalem, ga complex and natural Tobacco lah. Mungkin bisa kaya TFA Tobacco, FA 7 leaves, FA shade, FLV Commercial Ciggarette, dll.

2. Matured Tobacco: golongan ini lebih ke aroma yg lebih dalem lagi, lebih dark, lebih earthy, pokoke yg aroma and flavor nya lebih komplexs lah drpd kelas young tobacco. Seperti FA Glory, FLV Kentucky Blend, TFA Black Honey, dll

3. Cocktail/Desert Tobacco: golongan ini gw masukin tobacco yg uda di blend dengan komponen lain, jadi lo bisa rasain jg ada flavor lain secara significant. Missal, RY4 caramel yg notabene blend ama caramel, FW Chocolate Tobacco dll

Oiya brews, notes penting untuk kalian yg ingin coba brewing tobacco flavor.

STEEPING is ABSOLUTELY ESSENTIAL for tobacco recipe Yaaa!

kalo kalian lakukan steeping secara baik dan benar, gw jamin deh yg lo perlukan untuk steeping natural tobacco recipe itu dari minimum 6-10 hari steeping tapi kembali lagi sama karakter flavornya, bisa juga lebih cepet or lebih lama dikit and ini untuk yg biasanya single flavoring. Dan klo di mix recipe at least 2 weeks’ time steeping, flavor nya biasanya baru keluar tuh, maksudnya kek bunga aja, flavor di 2 weeks steeping ini baru mulai mekar and biasanya di 3 minggu dia mateng alias full bloomed. So, tobacco mixing is all about patience. ^_^

Okay, with no further due... Let’s get into it lah ya..

1. FA Shade

Ahh this one is one of my fave tobacco, flavor dari FA ini bisa dibilang new comer lah.. mungkin 2015an dia baru nongol deh klo ga salah ya. Nah menurut gw karakter si FA Shade ini cocok ama lidah gw dan sesuai apa yg gw pengen cari dr flavor tobacco. Its uniq and ga ada yg mirip dr vendor lainnya. Yg suka RY4 mungkin akan suka ama flavor ini deh.

Karakternya FA Shade ini smooth and ringan but have body by itself, little sweetness in there, ada taste grassy, earthy tapi ringan dan ga galak. Mungking ini boleh gwe bilang mirip karakternya, sama Turkish tobacco, tapi versi kalem nya and ga setajem dan secomplex, ga se-aromatic or spicy kayak Turkish tobacco.

What I like about this flavor, karena dia cukup bisa dibilang real tobacco flavor and karena kalemnya jadi bisa dbawa masuk ke resep apapun. Missal lo mau mix bareng caramel, butterscotch, vanilla, coklat, cookie, akan jadi very well bodied recipe. Trus kalo lo mix ke yg fruity, missal strawberry, orange, lemon dll, FA Shade cukup nongol banget. Lalu klo di mix bareng other tobacco flavor.. dia bisa jadi support yg bagus. Gw bilang sih masuk ke semua flavor deh ini mah.. must have and must try!

Untuk prosentase biasanya gw pake di 2-4.5% kalo di single flavor. While untuk mix recipe bisa di coba di range 1-3%. Karakter FA Shade ini ada di Matured Tobacco biarpun dia ringan, tapi body dan compleksitasnya cukup tinggi.

2. FA Glory

Glory Glory Glory… Gloria Estefan! Hueheuheu.. *jadul.. untuk flavor yg ini I must say yg suka nutty flavor. Well, you got what u want in Tobacco Flavor! Profile nya cukup simple, its matured tobacco yg tobacco tastenya lebih ke earthy, nutty, dry tobacco with no sweetness. Nuttiness nya sampe blend well ama tobacconya and yg gw rasa ini lebih ke nutty flavor than tobacco. For me, ini gw pake utk support sih krn ga terlalu suka klo jadi main profile. Sbenernya ini bisa di pairing kemacem2 creamy, caramel, or butterscotch. Untuk sweet spot in single di 3%max and in recipe mix, start from 0.5-2% max, and jangan sampe overflavor or FA Glory ini bakal jadi Man of The Match nya.

3. FA SOHO

Ini another good cocktail tobacco dari FA, karakternya cukup complex.. tapi basically ini kek rasa RY4 tapi di tambah hints of burnt sugar atau ini brown sugar ya, slightly sweet caramelize, roasted nuts, smooth woody and ga terlalu dry. Overall smooth vaping sih.. ga semanis TFA RY4 Double but secara body dan flavor cukup complex. Pairing bisa sama creamy, bakery, nuts, coffee or chocolate and vanilla, masi oke bgt.. while sweet spotnya aga cukup tinggi nih biar flavornya keluar. Sbenernya jadinya kek average TFA flavoring. For single dia suka di 7-8% and in mix recipe 4-6%. Lumayan boros ini.. hehe.. so kalo kalian suka smooth ry4 mainly with little sweetness and complex. Nah coba ini deh..

4. FA Desert Ship

WELL.. yang satu ini mengingatkan ama rasa rokok bakar si CAMEL. Profilya yg cukup strong, bold, dry, ashy and spicy. While klo dirasain theres hints of nuttiness and ginger. Yg gw rasa spicy nya tuh dari si ginger deh and quite noticableYg kangen ama rokok bakar camel, ya bisa coba ini sih.. mirip2 lah.. but beware aja, karena strong. So sweet spot nya in single recipe max 3% aja, while in mix bisa di coba dr 0.5 – 2 % cukup. Buat pairing.. hmmm.. gw coba cuman pake creamy, coffee, caramel, butterscotch, toasted almond, hazelnut, all good to go. From fruity side? Belum gw coba.. go ahead and just explore the flavors brews.. ^_^

5. FA 7 Leaves Ultimate

A tobacco blend from fire cured tobacco, bright leaf, burley, shade, perique, latakia, oriental dan hasilnya a weak tobacco flavor. Heuheue.. ya, yg ini apa smooth apa weak tobacoo dan seolah jadinya masuk kategori Young Tobacco menurut gw. FA 7 Leaves ini cukup friendly lah buat yg ga terlalu cari punchy tobacco flavor. Karakter nya kalem, earthy, grassy, dry, flowery, nutty, woody, little spicy... menurut gw ada hints macam licorice gitu but very subtle. Buat yg suka strong tobacco akan perlu add support yg lain seperti FA Shade, Dessert Ship or French Pipe Tobacco yg akan kasih punchy tobacco notes. Soal pairing, karena ini aga smooth n weak, add nuts, baked or creamy, and candy notes akan cocok sih. Sweet spot di single cukup tinggi ya di 4-6% while in mix recipe start from 2-3%. Hmmm overall not really my liking sih, but again. Semua soal selera. ^_^

6. FA Black Fire

Flavor ini not really a tobacco flavor, menurut gw ini just add special flavor yg notabene kasih more realistic conventional smoking. Yak bener, ashy smoky flavor. So mostly gw pake ini just 1 drop per 15ml di flavor tobacco yg gw pengen flavornya lebih realistic. Please please please be aware, if lo put too much, then will absolutely ruin your recipe coz this one is really potent flavor. Even max usage ini flavor mungkin di 0.8% saja itu juga klo kalian demen banget smokey ashy flavor. Jadi hati2 ya brews. Overall ini must have lah, and salut buat FA kok bisa ya bikin flavor smokey gini. Heuheuhue..

7. FA RY4

Flavor ini cukup complex tobacco, but bagus buat based tobacco karena karakternya yg not too sweet, lil bit spicy and full bodied Virginia tobacco, ada hints of caramel, vanilla and nuts. Ini ga semanis TFA RY4 double but somehow more rich in flavor. So, karena attitudenya yg cukup bright tobacco and lil complex sweetness, cocok di pairing ama coffe, butterscotch, cocoa, sampe liquor macam rum and bourbon whiskey pun asik di flavor ini. And cukup irit lah pemakaiannya, bisa mulai for sweet spot single di 2-3% and in mix recipe bisa di 1-2.5%. steeping time standard tobacco, baru mekar di kisaran 2 weeks. Must try lah yg ini..

8. FA Cuban Supreme

Nah ceritanya pengen bikin cigar recipe, yg bisa buat nemenin cognac. Well, this flavor is work very well but its kinda Cocktail style tobacco sih yg gw pikir tadinya tuh true Cuban cigar.. huehuheue.. . Rasanya tu sbenernya netral tobacco, quite smooth and mild. Lebih bold dr FA 7 Leaves, untuk profile nya pas exhale gw rasain ada hints weak vanilla and more woody. So good sih, well blended. No bitter ala cigar or ashy. So cukup netral and tasty juga sih. FA Cuban Supreme ini udah enak di 2-3% in single, while in mix gw juga pake di 1.5-3% sih.. enak aja.. flavor ini bagus krn even lo naikin persentase ke 4-5% ga akan ubah rasanya, just bikin stronger in flavor aja sih.. which mudah di control jadinya. And untuk pairing bisa semua flavor nih cocok. Even add other tobacco flavor pun enak. Tinggal mainkan mau apa flavor yg dituju. Kalo gw bilang sih.. must have lah ini.

9. TFA RY4 Double

Nah ini juga salah satu fave gw Karen its very very very friendly tobacco flavor. Why? Coz yg suka creamy and terutama caramel vape nah harus coba ini. Sbenernya yg ga suka tobacco pun tapi suka creamy bisa enjoy ama ini flavor. Karakternya cukup nongol, its soo caramel bgt, ada hints light vanilla nya , creaminess nya is there, and mild RY4 tobacco, body nya sudah cukup ada. Karena tobacco nya so mild alias kalem, jadi buat yg suka strong tobacco baiknya add support dr tobacco fave kalian lainnya. Klo ada yg pernah coba liquid US HALO Tribeca, nah moreless persis ini rasa nya deh RY4 Double. Untuk pairing, gw dah coba hampir semua masuk (tergantung selera ya dan logika aja.. hehehe) gw coba with vanilla, cookie, cake, coffee,creams sampe fruity strawberry, blueberry, coconut, almond, hazelnut, dll. So far so gud sih. Nah kalo untuk sweet spot untuk single flavor bisa di 7-8% and while in mix recipe bisa di 3-5% udah cakep. And ingat, mungkin krn ini flavor udah creamy, sweet + tobacco pula so atensi utk penggunaan sweetener kalian ya, trus kalo rasa punchy bgt bisa add FA MTS or TFA Smooth untuk blend it lebih kalem. Jelas kalo ni kelasnya si di cocktail tobacco, yg moreless butuh waktu steeping di 6-17days. MUST HAVE flavor for one who want try tobacco eliquid and also for tobacco lovers.

10. TFA Tobacco

Flavor ini bisa gw kategorikan Young Tobacco, why? Coz pas kalian rasain kalian pasti akan bilang bweehh… wheres that punchy tobacco flavor? Yak... ini mild bgt tapi so young and bisa gw bilang lebih ke karakter tobacco leaf, not yet cured. So it’s like fresh tobacco leaf, mild, uniq flavor, not complex nor creamy. Buat gw mantan lidah red malrboro agak aneh rasain flavor ini pada awalnya, but in same time gw notice ini flavor tobacco mirip ala US Liquid Screwbacco, similar profile sih. Untuk pairing, gw coba di fruity, creamy and even buat support other mature/ cocktail tobacco lainnya ini flavor work well untuk kasih uniqness. Gw sampe iseng coba coba cloning si screwbacco and hasilnya ya not bad lah... mirip dikit2 ^_^. So give a try yg pengen mild tobacco tapi not cured tobacco bgt.

Untuk sweet spot for single bisa di 7-8% and in mix recipe bisa di 2-5% cukup. Give a time steeping 6-14 days udah matured.

11. TFA Western (Cowboy Blend)

Tobacco flavor yg satu ini tobacco flavor pertama yg gw brew, dulu namanya tuh cowboy blend. Yg gw pikir mungkin akan sama kek malrboro kali ya, dan ternyata bener. Yah mirip mirip lah, buat nostalgia cucok banget bagi yg dulu pernah or masih bakar Marlboro. Karakter profilenya cukup clean tobacco, ashy, roasted, dry dan mirip malrboro but ada slight artificial flavor sih. Awalnya ada hints sweetnes and overtime dia steeping, and full bodied dry ashy clean tobacco, maybe Virginia tobacco style. Karena cukup clean, di pairing sama other creamy, bakery, menthol, nuts, liquor and sweets and fruits. Just give ur best imagination. Althought, gw prefer plain or add little menthol for occasion. Untuk sweet spot, single gw max di 5% and mix recipe bisa di 3-5% just fine. Steeping time minimum 7days.

12. TFA Black Honey

Yg satu ini sebenernya jebakan betmen sih, yg gw pikir akan ke cocktail tobacco style yg mana strong tobacco and kasih honey sweetness. Hmm.. gw pikir akan rasain itu yum flavor… but my expectation was too high on it. Blend single at 3% and after 7d steeping all I can taste just honey.. WTF?? Wheres the tobacco flavor? Huehuehue.. After 2 weeks, yg gw pikir its matured time. Honey flavor yg dominasi drpd tobacco nya yg cukup smooth and mild. So gw pikir harusnya tobacco nya yg nongol donk, so solusinya adalah kalo mau tobacconya nongol di flavor ini add other tobacco to support. Bisa pake TFA RY4, or Western, or FA Dessert Ship, or your fave tobacco flavor. Overtime ini flavor bikin enek, so I don’t bother about this one lah.

13. INW AM4A

Ini flavor INW Tobacco pertama yg gw coba, and awalnya gw pikir akan kategori simple Matured Tobacco and ternyata ini complex Cocktail Tobacco, lebih spesifik lg sbenernya Pipe Tobacco blend with awesome complex mild sweetness sih. I said, WOW... Not for everyone and surely not ADV awalnya... But give it a time to develop in your tounge and its really good one.

Untuk karakter profile, INW AM4A ini walaupun tergolong pipe tobacco yg notabede pasti strong flavor, but ini very very smooth flavor, very rich and bold, so dark and matured, tapi kasih hints of sweetness nya. Flavor ini uniq banget, and give u WOW factor... awalnya sweetness itu gw rasain dari cocoa, coffee and hints of vanilla. Very very mild ya, and during time develop jadi rasanya ada hints of rum, caramel and eventually flavor blended well and jadi deh matured pipe tobacco with mild hints of sweetness of blending of cocoa, vanilla, cocoa, coffee and rum caramel. Very uniq profile and kalian musti coba deh.

And untuk pairing, gw coba di creamy, nutty, bakery works well. But in fruity, cocok di dark fruits, macam black cherry, blackberry, pokoke fruit yg falvornya ga bright and shines kaya strawberry or lemon. Dan soal sweet spot persentase gw coba di dingle 2% max udah pronounced bgt, dan in mix recipe gw coba di 1-2.5% max. oiya bagi yg ga suka punchy tobacco, you must use MTS/Smooth 2 drops per 30ml. and steeping time mulai di 7d-20d.

14. INW Vanilla For Pipe

Nah nah nah lagi dah ini Flavor juga jebakan betmen persis kek TFA Black Honey.. ^_^ yg awalnya gw pikir a Pipe Tobacco (yg mana pasti burley, latakia, perique style) so sud be strong yess.. and ternyata salah. Yg dominant adalah Vanilla nya sodara sodaraaa.. heuheuhue.. klo boleh gw bilang ini tobacconya justru Cavendish and virginia deh, tp cukup smooth and the good things is, vanilla nya enak… karena ada hints tobacco nya, jadi seolah olah kek baked burnt vanilla yg pas banget. Sweetness nya just right. Karena gw penasaran, gw add support ama INW AM4A and enak juga sih, but masih cukup nendang vanillanya. So in summary, steeping minimum 6d-14d and untuk Flavor ini max sweet spot di 1% for single recipe ya, kalo lo in mix recipe you need to tone down max at 0.50-0.7%, intinya klo add supporting other tobaccos, naikin other tobacco nya. Coz this vanilla is real sumthing strong goodness. I like it, and sumtimes justru gw mix di bakery or cake recipe. Bikin sdikit uniq lah. This is truly cocktail/dessert tobacco flavor dan yg pasti yg doyan vanilla bisa suka ama flavor ini.

15. INW French Pipe

Flavor ini cukup complex and susah juga di jinakin, but taste good. Profilenya cukup rame karena gw rasain itu ada cocoa, vanilla, nutty, bakery yg mungkin biscuit or graham cracker keknya.. Earthy and dark tobacco. Well balanced but quite strong but smooth flavor. Karakternya nya strong pipe tobacco with hints of mild sweetness. Lumayan lah ni flavor, tapi after steeping dia berubah lagi flavornya. Lebih dark tobacco with nuances of toffee maybe ya. And cukup oke si. Untuk sweet spot di single falvor ini bisa di 1-2%

16. FW Chocolate Tobacco

Ini the only FW tobacco yg gw beli.. And… Ahh ini juga sama dah.. gayanya mirip kek TFA Black Honey, or INW Vanilla for Pipe. Most of flavornya itu dark chocolate and cocoa deh, its good.. ga mengecewakan kok, alhasil jadi body nya dpt dr tobacco yg jadi hints nya. Please Add other good tobacco as support untuk nongolin rasa tobacco yg kalian mau. Soalnya during steeping and pas mateng justru cocoa and dark choco nya yg dominant. Untuk sweet spot gw main di 1.5-3% single and mix, as time steeping ini jadi lebih stronger in chocolate. So u need support for sure.
